A Global pharmaceutical company has an opportunity for an experienced quality manager and responsible pharmacist. Experience in animal health will be an advantage.


The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Animal Health based in Midrand in Johannesburg and Head of Quality South Africa fulfilling the requirements for the Pharmacy Act (Act 53 of 1974) and the Medicines Control Act (Act 101 of 1965).  The Responsible Pharmacist remains ultimately accountable towards the SA Pharmacy Council and SAHPRA and will ensure that the company’s Animal Health division is compliant.  Will also oversee the GMP, GDP and GSP requirements and implement a Standardized Quality Management System.


Making sure that the Quality Management System for Animal Health is harmonized with regional and corporate procedures and policies and updated.

Ensure Good Distribution Practice (GDP) towards authorities and all audits are completed as per the annual audit plan.

Act as the local Pharmaceutical Complaint Officer and all complaints are logged within the required timeline.

Management of all external service providers within the Animal Health Business.

Responsible for overseeing compliance and adherence to corporate SOP’s, local regulations and corporate SOP’s and best practices as applicable.

Perform quality audits to suppliers and service providers according to the annual audit plan.

Continuously update and develop further personal auditing skills and knowledge of internal/external regulatory changes.

Job Requirements:

2-5 years of Leadership Experience in leading projects, leading team and leaders and leading business/function

Must be a registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council

Solid experience in Quality Management

Strong knowledge of local and international acts/regulations/guidelines concerning GDP/GMP and Quality Assurance

Minimum of 2 years experience as a Responsible Pharmacist

Very good communication and inter-cultural skills

Interdisciplinary thinking and open communication

Excellent interpersonal skills, assertiveness and decision-making ability
