Job Purpose:

To act as an ambassador by promoting pharmaceutical products as well as the image, values and goals of the organization to the relevant target market, thereby contributing to the annual Sales target and long term growth and profitability of the business.

Major Accountabilities

1. Achievement of sales targets

To meet or exceed sales targets (market share/market share growth) within agreed budgets and timescales.

To promote defined  products according to campaign briefs and policies.

To drive hospital formulary compliance at hospital pharmacy level and switching resistant specialists, achieve formulary compliance of 90% as required by hospital groups.

2. Training of Customers according to Hospital Group requirements

To do in service training with hospital pharmacies and ICU’s according to hospital group’s protocol.

3. Focused customer service

To build & maintain sustainable relationships with internal & external customers, while promoting a professional, responsible image of the company at all times.

Have a good knowledge of the different hospital formularies and protocols and follow them strictly.

4. Product & industry knowledge

To ensure outstanding personal and team knowledge, and understanding of  priority products, technical information, product strategy, positioning, key messages and programme.

5. Effective administration & cost management

Effective administration of territory business including, maintenance of high quality record systems, daily communication with administrative systems and timely processing of territory business expenses.

6. Territory Management

To achieve agreed contact, coverage and frequency targets through face to face contact and meetings and deliver agreed customer centric activities within operating budget.

Effective communication with territory colleagues and relevant members of other teams e.g. Hospital Pharmacy representatives to maximize business.

Minimum requirements


  • Preference will be given to a Nursing qualification and/or Nursing experience
    • Minimum 2 years hospital experience calling on key departments (theatres, ICU’s etc.)
    • Established relationships with key customers in territory. (Physicians, Micros, Surgeons, Anesthetists )
    • Tertiary Qualification in Science/ Sales and Marketing or business
    • Anti-infective experience highly advantageous
    • Strong sense of ethics and integrity.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines
    • Valid driver’s license and own transport
    • Must reside in Territory
