A well-established medical company requires a medical representative to cover the Johannesburg/Gauteng territory. The company imports and distributes medical products and devices into Southern Africa.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Contacting potential customers, identifying their needs, offering our products that will best satisfy those needs; closing the sale; and providing an after-sales service. As a medical sales representative, you’ll do all of this and more.

Duties include:
· Arranging appointments with doctors, pharmacists and hospital medical teams, which often includes pre-arranged appointments and “cold” calling;
· Building and maintaining positive working relationships with medical staff and supporting administrative staff;
· Keeping detailed records of all contacts;
· Reaching (and exceeding) annual sales targets;
· Planning work schedules and weekly and monthly timetables. This may involve working with the area sales manager and/or discussing future targets.
· Keeping up to date with the latest clinical data supplied by the company, and interpreting, presenting and discussing this data with health professionals during presentations;
· Monitoring competitor activity and competitors’ products;
· Maintaining knowledge of new developments in the health industry, anticipating potential negative and positive impacts on the business and adapting strategy accordingly;
· Developing strategies for increasing opportunities to meet and talk to contacts in the medical and
healthcare sector;
· Staying informed about the activities of health services in a particular area.

Requirements

  • A mature, responsible self-motivated individual.
  • Being smartly dressed and a professional appearance are essential as is an ability to hold rapport with
    professionals and people of all walks of life.
    · A healthy lifestyle and overall commitment to health and wellness.
    · There is a lot of travel during the day with occasional absence from home overnight or longer. You may have to attend client dinners on some events such as congresses.

Qualifications:
The following qualification/background will be preferable together with a background in Medical Sales.
· Life Sciences; · Medicine; · Nursing; · Pharmacy.
· A business or marketing degree may also be helpful, especially if accompanied by some knowledge of medical sales and what this involves.
· Entry with an undergraduate degree is possible as training is given.
· A background in sales is important.
· The candidate should be ambitious and self-driven and with the ability to sell yourself.

· A driving licence is essential. Your car needs to be maintained in excellent condition.
· Work experience

  • Live in the area
  • Must be capable of working with or willing to learn to work with ERP & CRM systems. Namely; Netsuite ERP and Skynamo CRM Sales Management System.

 Required work experience: 

  • Medical Sales Experience
  • Nursing experience
